Spring Cleaning the Greenway:

D&R Canal State Park-Urban Greenway Project

Led by TCNJ's Bonner scholars, 85 first year students participated in a massive clean up project in Trenton on two separate days the week of March 16 as part of their Community Engaged Learning (CEL) requirment. Students weeded invasive plant growth, bagged up trash and pulled  discarded items  from areas along the Delaware and Raritan Canal. A larger group of students  also removed tons  of debris, including refrigerators, tires and lumber,  from a greenway between Prospect Street and Jarvis Place. The city of Trenton provided dumpsters while  the state Department of Environmental Protection provided trash bags, clippers, gloves and a dump trucks. The day's events concluded with discussion and reflection. Bonner scholars Michael Brower (pictured below) and Sejour Stevens organized the event.
