Community Engaged Learning II: An Overview

The Second Component of the Community Engaged Learning Program (CEL II) may apply to future classes as a graduation requirement. The Bonner Center is currently running a pilot program.

CEL II calls for students to apply knowledge gained from academic experiences to everyday community life in order to understand how to accept responsibility for active and engaged citizenship in a complex and diverse society.   It also provides opportunities for students to advance their critical and analytic thinking about society.

To satisfy this component, TCNJ students would complete a course, a series of courses within a program, or an equivalent sustained experience--altogether providing an additional 15 hours of community engaged learning activities (including class-based discussions or similar experiences).

For a more complete description of the established criteria and approval processes for CEL II go to the link above or contact Patrick Donohue (pdonohue@tcnj.edu) or Robert Anderson (randerso@tcnj.edu).
