FSP Courses & CEL: Living in a Virtual World FSP Project

Students from Janet Mazuar's course creating a webpage for residents of South Trenton who are also involved in programs at El Centro de Recursos Para Familias.

The site (www.elcentrooftrenton.org) was launched and 20 residents came to campus on November 29th to participate in a capstone presentation and training given by the FSP students.

The website is a work-in-progress--but it begins to create opportunities for the local Latino community to stay connected to their hometowns and cultures—by linking them to newspaper, radio and other sites. The goal of the site is to also connect residents to important information about employment and other services in the local area.

Prior to starting the project, students visited El Centro for a direct service experience. They helped the Bonner Community Scholars team teach a basic language class.

Last year, Professor Mazur's class created a similar project for residents of Greenwood House in nearby Ewing and the presentation was covered by New Jersey Network.
