Taking a stand against racism
Forty fourth grade students from Trenton's Grant School spent the day in the Kidsbridge Museum on TNCJ's campus learning about racism. Bonner scholars Lauren Serrano and Rachel Stenftennagel along with 10 other TCNJ students led the children through activities that included literally shredding bad names to discussing anti-bullying strategies and putting on skits. The April 3, 2009 event, part of the annual Stand Against Racism, aims to eliminate discrimination, prejudice and racism. More than 320 other organizations in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, ranging from schools to small businesses and non profits, participated in the program. For more information on the program, which originated in Mercer County, go to www.StandAgainstRacism.org.
