Camp philosophy

The College of New Jersey baseball program has risen to national prominence during the past twenty years earning twelve berths to the NCAA Tournament and a trip to the College World Series.

TCNJ baseball takes on a proven philosophy for developing players. No less than 24 players have earned All-American honors with 26 signing professional contracts in the past five seasons. The same philosophy of detail and focus will be found in the Lions Baseball Camp.

The Lions Baseball Camp is designed for the college-bound player as well as boys of various abilities from ages 8 -18. Fundamentals and advanced techniques are stressed.

The same philosophy of the TCNJ baseball program of developing a well balanced player by exposing each camper to the latest methods to improve fitness, fundamentals and strategy are implemented. A top quality staff includes collegiate coaches, former professional players, pro-scouts and successful High School coaches. The curriculum is designed to develop boys in both the beginning and advanced stages.

A special pitcher's program is offered for those interested in concentrated work in the aspect of the game. The pitching curriculum is constructed by Rick Dell, pitching instructor for The College of New Jersey.

Attention Summer League Players

Each year many of the players attending the Lions Baseball Camp play on All Star Teams that advance into tournament play. All campers are free to leave and return to camp for summer league games. In the event that your team must go on the road and travel for the week, making you unable to attend the camp, the Lions Baseball Camp will refund your tuition and give you a credit for your $100 deposit.

New College Prep

As part of the regular resident and non-resident Lions Baseball Camp a "College Prep" will take place. College Coaches and professional scouts will be in attendance to evaluate players as well as give tips and information for being scouted and recruited. Professional scouts will tell you what they are looking for in a player. A panel of college coaches will discuss in depth how to prepare and expose yourself for the colleges of your choice. Additional lectures will take place during the week on topics such as nutrition, weight training, sports psychology, and preparing for SATs.
