The college has developed an ambitious strategic plan for the DCSSJ that will be implemented in stages over a period of several years.The following is a listing of proposed projects.
Distinguished Lecture
ADCSSJ will bring a distinguished speaker to campus each academic year to deliver the Alan Dawley Memorial Lecture. Invited speakers will be preeminent scholars and/or community leaders whose work on social justice reflects the mission of the DCSSJ.
USA Studies Minor
The USA Studies Program examines the inner workings of American society as well as the transnational processes and international patterns that explain America in its relations with the outside world.DCSSJ will collaborate with and support the USA Studies programming needs.
International Symposium on Social Justice
A major conference on social justice in America planned for 2010
The Alan Dawley Prize
The ADCSSJ will award a prize each academic year for the best scholarly or creative project by a TCNJ undergraduate in the past year.
Grassroots Initiatives Project
This project invites rassroots activists and community organizations to join the TCNJ campus community in common ventures, forums, and other initiatives. In addition, we encourage TCNJ faculty and student involvement in grassroots activism.
Student Scholars Program
DCSSJ will sponsor two student scholars each academic year who want to pursue a scholarly project on a topic concerning social justice and/or the interplay between the US and the world.
Learning Communities and Visiting Scholars Program
ADCSSJ will offer an advanced seminar for students and faculty to partner advanced students with faculty member in an intensive study of a social justice topic.
Student Foreign Travel Program
ADCSSJ will offer competitive grant support to students pursuing social justice work abroad.
Summer Institute for High School Students
Twelve high school juniors from within New Jersey will be brought to TCNJ’s campus for a five week, intensive study of different approaches to questions of social justice.
