Curt Elderkin is an Assistant Professor of Biology.  His research interests include population and conservation genetics of freshwater mussels, evolutionary ecology of freshwater invertibrates, quantitative genetics of environmental stressors, and population biology, ecology, and physiology of invasive species.  He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology in 2001 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Andrew Máthé is a rising junior biology student who advocates increasing the role of the biological sciences in influencing public policy. As an OSRP scholar, Andrew has made sure to make the most of the opportunities provided by The College of New Jersey. As publicity coordinator of TCNJ Water Watch, the College’s sole remaining environmental organization, he has helped bring environmental issues to the forefront of the campus community; this semester Andrew helped organized the four-day New Jersey Climate March, which arrived at TCNJ on April 15th. For the month of April, he is also organizing an interdisciplinary lecture series that will feature distinguished experts on climate change and sustainability issues. Andrew is no stranger to field research: he has spent the past three summers working for Dr. Hugo Dooner, Professor of Plant Biology and Pathology at Rutgers University. Andrew is an accomplished guitar player. He also enjoys long-distance trail running, hiking, and quality conversation.

Alex Rass is currently an aspiring Biology major at The College of New Jersey.  Though biology is his major, he isinterested in many other subjects, including chemistry, psychology, mathematics, and computer science, the latter of which he plans to minor in during his tenure at TCNJ.  He is also participating in the college’s theatre organization, ACT, and partaking in research with Professor Elderkin.  He is not positive about what the future holds for him, but plans to attend either medical school or graduate school, where he would continue some form of research.
