Dana Fraytak, a TCNJ alumnus, who decided to take her law degree into a career in the political realm and now works in a legislative services office.

Thomas Hastie, Jr.

Thomas J. Hastie, Jr. will be coming to speak to us about his experience with law school and why he decided to go into municipal law. He is an alumnus of Trenton State College and is really looking forward to helping out current students interested in law.  It should be a unique experience since we haven’t really touched on municipal law and the pros and cons of focusing on that area in today’s economy.

Dr. Fair will be presenting on the law school admissions process. He works with students every year, so he has lots of knowledge about navigating the process.

Villanova Law School Admissions Representative

A representative from Villanova Law School Admissions will be coming to talk about the school and the admissions process.  If you’re interested in Villanova, or have already applied, definitely come out! It will be good to hear from an actual law school rep, even if Villanova isn’t your school of choice.

Ariel Werner, Paralegal Specialist: U.S. Attorney’s Office

Ariel Werner is a Paralegal Specialist in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. At the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ariel works in the Business and Securities Fraud section, where she compiles evidence, conducts legal research, and provides legal assistance for financial crimes investigations and trials.

Jason Nardiello, Intellectual Property Attorney

Jason Nardiello is a TCNJ alum who is currently working at Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell in New York City, as an intellectual property attorney. He'll be speaking about his experience in law school and his career since. He came last year and gave a really awesome presentation, really telling it like it is.

Michael Stallone, Partnership for Public Service

Our very own Michael Stallone will be discussing opportunities for careers and internships in legal fields in the government. He will be talking about his experience as an intern with the Department of Justice, his work as a Federal Service Student Ambassador, and some options to lawyers within the government. He’ll be taking questions and giving advice about how to land government jobs and internships.

Kevin Michels, Professor of Business

Professor Kevin Michels is a current TCNJ professor, who teaches courses and conducts research on business law and ethics. He has authored articles and books on legal ethics and will be discussing his experience as an attorney, in law school, and the alternative track his career has taken since. He is also a member of the advising committee for TCNJ Pre-Law students.

Melinda Roberts, Professor of Philosophy

Professor Melinda Roberts is a current TCNJ professor, who teaches courses and conducts research on law and ethics, specifically with regard to medical issues. She has authored books and articles on the subject, and worked as a practicing attorney for many years as a corporate and securities attorney. She will be discussing her experience in law school, her career as a practicing attorney, and her alternative career track. She is also a member of the advising committee for TCNJ Pre-Law students.

James Van Strander, TCNJ Alum

James Van Strander recently graduated from Duke University of Law after completing his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at TCNJ in 2007. His talk is entitled, “How to Get Into Law School, Get a Job, & Get Charged with Mail Fraud.”

Alan Lewenstein, President of Law School Strategies

Alan Lewenstein will be presenting his seminar "Law School: An Introduction," for students thinking about going to law school. Ordinarily, this seminar would cost about $225 per person, but for us it is free! So please come out to see this awesome presentation. He'll be giving an overview of the law school environment, describing a week in the life of a typical law student, discussing the application process, things to consider when deciding where to apply, and career options after law school. There will be time for questions! He also has another seminar, regarding what to expect from your first year in law school, which we can arrange for a later time. Dr. Fair is a Pre-Law Advisor and TCNJ Professor. He will be discussing what you, as undergraduates should be doing each year of school in order to prepare for law school.

Brad Muller, Seton Hall Alum

Brad will be discussing his experience with the admissions process to Seton Hall, his experience there, and the subsequent clerkship he received upon receiving his degree. He is currently beginning a new job at a law firm in the area.

Our First Meeting of the Semester!

We will have a table at the student activities fair today from 12-2pm. At 3pm, we will have our first meeting! We’ll tell you what we’re all about and Kaplan will be there to talk about our partnership with them, and what being a member can do for you. We’ll also be raffling off a free Kaplan prep book!
