Ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) - 0.5M, pH 8

Reagents (for 1L):

  • Na2EDTA - 186.1g
  • NaOH Pellets
  • DI Water - 1 L

Procedure:

  1. Dissolve the Na2EDTA in about 500 mls of DI water. NOTE: It will not go in until the solution reaches the proper pH.
  2. Adjust to pH 8.0 by adding the NaOH pellets until the EDTA goes into solution.
  3. Fill the solution to the final volume of 1 L with DI water.
