May 2009 Volume 4, Issue 2

Students who will be attending the 2009 Summer Sessions must submit the TCNJ Summer Session 2009 Financial Assistance Application which is online at www.tcnj.edu/~sfs/aid/summer.html in order to be  considered for summer financial aid.  Get your aid on time by staying informed with this article!

The deadline is June 30, 2009 and you must have a 2008-09 FAFSA on file to be considered for aid.

Summer financial aid is limited to your remaining academic year program eligibility and availability of funds. If you have borrowed your grade level maximum Federal Stafford Loans for fall/spring, there will not be any Stafford Loans available to you for summer. Grade level maximums are $5,500 for freshmen, $6,500 for sophomores and $7,500 for juniors/seniors. Graduate students have an annual limit of $20,500 in combined Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans.

Students can also consider Alternative Loan Programs as possible sources of assistance such as:

PLUS – Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students – Contact your chosen lender. www.hesaa.org/federalplusapply.html

GRAD PLUS – Graduate Students Only – Contact your chosen lender. www.hesaa.org/federalgradplusapply.html

REMEMBER!

Financial aid cannot disburse until the student is attending at least half-time.

Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours in order to be eligible for student loans. Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours in order to be eligible for student loans. For undergraduates this means that if you take a 4 credit hour course beginning in May and a 4 credit hour course that begins in July, your financial aid will not disburse until July when you have met the half-time status.
