Spring Semester To-Do's

Spring will spring early at TCNJ!  As you prepare for the Spring semester, there are some things that you can do to make the beginning of the semester go smoothly:

  1. Review your Spring tuition bill, after receiving your Spring billing e-mail and pay all charges.
  2. Students and parents are encouraged to read the benefits of SHIP (Student Health Insurance Plan) before waiving enrollment in the plan.  Full time students are required to maintain health insurance to include, at the very least, basic hospital benefits throughout the period of enrollment.  After considering the factors above, proceed to waive the automatic health insurance coverage offered by The College by visiting SHIP (the Student Health Insurance Plan) on The College website at www.tcnj.edu/~sa/health/studentinsurance.html.  The link to waive the Spring insurance will be available at this site on or about November 20, 2008.  No waivers will be accepted after January 1, 2009.  Students enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan for Spring will be covered until August 15, 2009.
  3. Be sure to submit payment for the Spring semester to The College on or before the due date of January 9, 2009.  Lack of payment by the due date will result in a late payment fine being assessed to your account and possible de-registration from Spring semester courses.
  4. Review your personal information and update if necessary.
  5. Be sure your TuitionPay payment plan contract is covering the entire cost of the Spring semester not covered by other means (scholarship and/or financial aid).  If not, submit the difference directly to The College or contact The College TuitionPay representative to adjust your contract.
  6. Be sure all scholarship information is reported to The College at http://www.tcnj.edu/~sfs/aid/private/html.  It is required by law to notify the school of outside scholarships you are receiving.
  7. If applicable, print a copy of your bill and submit to your employer for payment.
  8. Sign up the responsible bill payer to receive e-billing notification directly to their own e-mail address.  Click here to view that website now or visit www.tcnj.edu/~sfs/account later.  Click on Sign up Responsible Bill Payer for E-mail Notifications.  Only one alternate e-mail can be registered per person.
  9. Confirm your registration for the Spring semester.  This feature is available on TESS on or about November 20, 2008.  Attendance must be confirmed by the first day of Spring classes, which is Tuesday, January 20, 2009 to preserve your schedule and housing.
  10. Complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  This MUST NOT be filed until January 1, 2009.
  11. Refer to the article in this newsletter concerning changes to the 2009/2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Best wishes for a great semester!!!
