When Do I Get My Refund?

The Office of Student Accounts reviews the status of all accounts after the Office of Student Financial Assistance disburses financial aid.  This disbursement usually begins during the third week of the semester.  If a credit balance exists on your account, the money is refunded directly to the student.

The method of refund depends on how the credit balance was generated.  Overpayments made by cash, check or electronic check (ACH) are refunded by check from The College.  If a refund is created as a result of a check payment, the refund will be processed (30) days after the date that the check was posted to a student's account.  Overpayments made by credit card are refunded back to the credit card as long as the refund is within 90 days of the original charge.

Students can view their account status online.  If receiving a refund, a line stating "Refund to Student" will appear with the date the refund will be available.

Refund checks are available for pick up on Wednesdays between 10:00am and 3:00pm in the Office of Finance and Business Services located in the Administrative Services Building, Room 201.  If the check is not picked up during this time, it will be mailed to the student's permanent address as it appears in our system.

The Office of Records and Registration is responsible for documentation of refund eligibility if a student withdraws from the College.  The computing of refunds is based on the official date that the Office of Records and Registration receives written notification of withdrawal by the student.  It is not based upon the last date of class attendance.

If you have any questions regarding a refund, please e-mail the Office of Student Accounts at stuaccts@tcnj.edu.
