nj stars ii scholarship programFor the New Jersey high school students graduating in the class of 2004, a new scholarship program was implemented called NJ Stars. Any high school senior graduating in the top 20% of their class could be eligible to receive up to 5 semesters of tuition and approved fees free of charge at their home county college. While the same class of 2004 was in their second year of the program at their county college, the state legislature passed a bill instituting the NJ Stars II Program. Beginning in the Fall of 2006, this program would allow the student to continue as a NJ Stars student at a New Jersey public college or university (NJ Stars eligibility does not guarantee admission to a four-year NJ public college or university). To be eligible for the NJ Stars II Program, the student must have had continuous eligibility during the NJ Stars program, earned their Associates Degree and maintained a 3.00 cumulative grade point average from their county college. The program also requires that participants in the program file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year in the program. The institution is then required to provide a schoalrship for any remaining tuition and approved fees not covered by State and/or Federal grants and scholarships. TCNJ has 19 students enrolled in the NJ Stars II Program for the Fall semester of 2006. |
