tcnj student speaks out

Tamaria Green, a junior at The College of New Jersey, has been selected as a member of the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority's (HESAA) Student Advisory Committee (SAC) where she serves as assistant secretary.  HESAA's mission is to provide students and families with the financial and informational resources for students to pursue their education beyond high school.  As a member of this committee, Tamaria meets with the SAC before HESAA's board meetings to discuss the topics that will be voted on in upcoming meetings.  Students are selected to be a part of this advisory committee providing HESAA with feedback from students from every sector of New Jersey's schools (i.e. public, private and State).  This student position is extremely essential and important to HESAA as they acknowledge the commentary, criticism and observations of those they serve; the students.

Tamaria is a junior sociology major at TCNJ.  During the course of her college career she has conducted eight weeks of research on environmental issues of the Trenton Area through the Sociology and Anthropology Department under the leadership of Dr. Diane Bates (Summer 2006).  She has also received a certificate for the completion of an online course on Researching Human Subjects sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (RWJH) and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).  She works as a research assistant for the Equal Opportunity Fund Program at The College where she applies her analytical knowledge to the study of the program.

Tamaria's recent selection to HESAA's Student Advisory Committee is for the 2006-2007 academic year.  She takes great pride in fulfilling this position and will continue to reach out to TCNJ's students for support.
