FRANKFURT - "ZUM GOLDENEN LÖWE"

Pane from etched glass window
Between the 10th and the 31st of August, the Mozart family visited Frankfurt. They stayed at "Zum goldenen Löwe" and later at a private  residence on Bendergasse 3 (now Saalgasse 19). A pane of glass - from an attic window at "Zum goldenen Löwe" - is supposedly one which was etched by Leopold with the inscription: "Mozart Maitre de la Musique de la chapelle de Salzbourgh avec Sa Famile le 12 Aout 1763." This glass including the window frame, is preserved in the Historisches Museum in Frankfurt. My visit to this museum was on January 21, 1996.
