Scott Findlay Named NJAC Rookie
of the Year
2/23/02- The College of
New Jersey's freshman power forward Scott Findlay was named the
2001-2002 New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year for
his efforts this season with the Lions on Saturday at the 2002
NJAC Men's Basketball Championships Game.
The team's leading scorer
and rebounder from start to finish this year, Findlay led the
team with his performance despite missing two games with an ankle
injury, as well as a hand injury.
The six-foot-seven inch
power forward started 22 of the 23 games he played in this year
and chipped in 326 points, a 14.2 ppg average. Over the course
of the year, Findlay racked up three selections as NJAC Rookie
of the Week and had six double-doubles as well for the Lions,
while finishing in double-digits points in all but three games
played this year. His career highs included 22 points twice (against
both John Jay College and New Jersey City University), while his
best rebounding effort came against Richard Stockton College with
16 boards.
The team's leading rebounder
with 167 caroms, Findlay was ranked ninth in the NJAC in rebounding
with his per game average (7.26), while 29 blocked shots is ranked
fifth in the league in per game averages as well. He averaged
32.4 minutes per contest, while shooting 44.3% from the floor
(127-287) (eighth best in the league), while his 75.6% (59-78)
free throw percentage is seventh best in the NJAC.
He was also named to the
2001-2002 NJAC Honorable Mention Team.
