Senior Week 2006
Thursday, August 31, 2006, 11:55pm, Posted by Tom
And your news is back with the story of a little week that was great. I hope everybody had a great summer, I know I did and in honor of that great summer we all had I'd like to summarize the first part of the season's fun- TCNJ Senior Week 2006. Warning for the faint of heart and short of patience- summarize does not necessarily mean particularly short or to the point.
While the Seniors had all the fun of going to Six Flags Great Adventures, Atlantic City and partying all night every night, The CAs and LEMSers-cum-CAs had a different kind of fun. We got to wear the same staff t-shirt three days in a row. We got FREE PIZZA, McDonalds, Wendy's Taco Bell, and all that jazz- nightly. In light of the food, It's amazing that that semester I still managed to lose back half of the weight I'd gained in the fall from overstuffing. All that money I spent on groceries- warning to next years crew- do not rack up a grocery bill- they may well provide most of your food though technically you can't really rely on anything.
The Towers- setting for all the nighttime drama
We got master keys and got to see everybody's rooms while they were gone and then got to kick out the stragglers in the mornings. Like all the other CAs we manned the desks at the doors during the night and roved up and down and up all night long. Yeah, sleep came in stages. Difference is that we got the bigger guns- EMT bags, first Aid packs, and RADIOS (evil laugh). uh-huh. We like ops. I'm very glad our radio comments didn't get onto open airwaves. nough said. On rove we got to experience all the delights of 7-800 over-the-drinking-age kids parting it up like there's no tomorrow. Actually there was no tomorrow for them here- only 2 forms of discipline existed anymore- go home or be expelled (ha, right). So, we got excrement in the elevator, urine on the stairwells and garbage cans, beer slides in the halls accompanied by naked sliders, very little problems with broken glass because glass was prohibited (thank goodness- we would have been BUSY otherwise) and a couple other interesting quirky things. I remember that there was one or two EMS calls during the nights but wasn't present. My "action" was a single band-aid for a cut finger. yes, they got lucky.
Graduation arrived and our promised and long awaited and anticipated golf-cart did not accompany it. Oh well, I wasn't the one who was gonna drive it anyway. Besides, I got my summer share of golf carts elsewhere. So we did everything on foot. We split up, watched the ceremonies with the Pennington Road squad backing us up right next to the stadium. Then after a divide and conquer day of watching the ensuing festivities clad in our lovely new light blue Lions EMS squad 138 polo shirts, we divided and went on to conquer territory of a different kind- home and the summer.

Lions' EMS Banquet at Dave and Busters
Friday, May 12, 2006, 4:30pm, Posted by Tom
The other week, Sunday April 30th everybody smart headed over to Dave and Busters for the Lions' EMS end of the year banquet. KUDOS to Chris McKittrick for picking a great place and great food!
We showed up not too long after 2pm to a private reserved section with buffet, pool, and shuffleboard eventually. Dinner included such excellent changes to our standard Eickhoff fare as pizza bites, mini burgers, salad with special Dave & Busters dressing and pasta.
After dinner came the awards ceremony, complete with LEMS backsacks, boxers, and a plethora of awards ranging from most standbyes to most likely to wear @$$-less chaps (sorry guys, but this is in print here and we are a very professional organization here).
Then came the fun part, or should I say, the next fun part: the rest is all fun and games. Pool and the Midway arcade games followed the awards. I am very proud of my brand new travel mug with "Dave & Buster's" emblazoned on the side and the matching shot glass- the best deals in the awards shop, I love it.

Publicity Committee
Sunday, February 26, 2006, 3:00am, Posted by Tom
Hey, everybody! for my first news post I'd like to invite everybody to come to the Publicity Committee. We'll be having our first meeting this Wednesday at 1PM in the library cafe. We'll then decide what times to meet and our semester action plan. You can show up, though an e-mail ahead of time would be nice and if you can't make it, e-mail me @ paulman2@tcnj.edu, and lemme know when you can.
I can use any help, and I especially need someone who's been around for a while to make sure we cross our t's and so forth. Right now we're looking at some kind of PR event or demo and some public awareness campaigns. Any new ideas would be great, too. |
