My Professional Activities during 2008
- Attended and actively participated in the "Teaching Effectivenss Seminar" sponsored by
AACSB International in Tampa, Florida from March 27 - 28, 2008. This seminar included lectures, panel discussions and critical reviews
of individual teaching methods.
- Served as chairperson of the School of Business's student
grievance committee.
- Presented a business forum, along with Dr. Joao Neves, on April
9th, to the
School of Business faculty that dealt with our initial factor analysis of
our EBI student satisfaction data.
- I taught three
sections of ECO 231,
Applied Business Statistics during the spring semester.
- Attended, participated in, and completed the SAS Institute's
"Programming Essentials for Educators I", a one-day course in Cary,
North Carolina on July
21st.
- Attended, participated in, and completed the SAS Institute's
"Applied Analytics Using SAS Enterprise Miner 5.2", a four-day course in
Cary, North Carolina from July 22 to July 25th.
- Presented a paper entitled "Teaching the second course in business statistics: Student Knowledge, use of statistical software
, and student satisfaction." at the American Institute of Higher Education Conference in Atlantic City during September 24-26, 2008.
- Presented a paper jointly authored by Dr. Joao Neves entitled "Determinants of Student Satisfaction - A Case Study" at the
10th annual meeting of the Academy of Business Disciplines. The conference was held in Ft. Myers Beach, Floriday from November 6 to
November 8, 2008.
