My Professional Activities During 1997

  1. Taught "Intro. to Visual Basic" (4 cr.) at Mercer County Community College during the Spring, 1997 semester.
  2. Gave a Two-day workshop on "Computer Programming Concepts" to attendees of a professional development seminar at Mercer County Community College. March 10 and 13, 1997.
  3. Gave a Three-day workshop on "Programming Using Visual Basic" to attendees of a professional development workshop at Mercer County Community College. March 18, 19, and 20, 1997.
  4. Gave a two-day workshop on "Computer Programming Concepts" to attendees of a professional development seminar at Mercer County Community College. June 10 and 12, 1997.
  5. Gave a three-day workshop on "Programming Using Visual Basic" to attendees of a professional development workshop at Mercer County Community College. June 17, 18, and 19, 1997.
  6. Gave a Three-day workshop on "Database Management with Visual Basic" to attendees of a professional development workshop at Mercer County Community College. June 24, 25, and 26, 1997.
  7. Attended the International Conference on Information Systems and Qualitative Research in Philadelphia, PA. May 31 - June 3, 1997.
  8. Taught "Intro. to Visual Basic" (4 cr.) during the summer session at Mercer County Community College.
  9. Gave five, One-Week workshops in "Visual Basic Programming" to five groups of professional programmers and systems analysts from the Office of Telecommunications and Information Systems, The State of New Jersey. July and August, 1997.
  10. Participated in TCNJ's "Freshman Expectations Day" as a faculty advisor and leader. June 27, 1997.
  11. Participated in TCNJ's "Transfer Expectations Day" on September 2, 1997.
  12. Attended and actively participated in a two-night "Curriculum Design" workshop at Mercer County Community College. September 4 and 11, 1997.
  13. Served as the Computer-Liaison between the School of Business and TCNJ's Information Management Department. Primary duty is to prepare the computer budget for the School of Business.
  14. Presented details of the I.S.M. program to an Open-Option meeting sponsored by the TCNJ Office of Academic Advising. October 22, 1997.
  15. Consulted with CONTACT-USA, a national social service agency about a database design for their organization. October 31, 1997.
  16. Was a guest speaker at the Ewing Lions Club. Spoke on "Recent Developments on the World Wide Web. December 3, 1997.

My Professional Activities During 1998

  1. Attended the January meeting of the Princeton Chapter of ACM. The topic presented was "The Year 2000 Problem". January 15, 1998.
  2. Gave a workshop on "Making a Web Page" to the faculty of the TCNJ School of Business. January 16, 1998.
  3. Consulted with members of the Board of CONTACT-USA in Baltimore, MD regarding database design and implementation of their database system.
  4. Attended the March meeting of the Princeton Chapter of ACM. The topic presented was "Early Recording Equipment". March 19, 1998.
  5. Proctored the TCNJ School of Business senior exit exam. April 1, 1998.
  6. Attended the April meeting of the Princeton Chapter of ACM. The topic presented was "JAVA Beans". April 16, 1998.
  7. Participated in TCNJ's annual "Spring Day" by talking with parents and students and by offering a "Finding Information on The Web" workshop for visiting families.
  8. Attended the April breakfast meeting of the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce. The panel discussion dealt with the impact of computer technology on business practices, especially marketing. April 23, 1998.
  9. Attended an all-day workshop entitled, "Interactive Web Page Development" sponsored by the Princeton Chapters of ACM and IEEE. April 25, 1998.
  10. Attended an all-day panel discussion entitled, "Don't Get Caught In The Web: Protecting your company and yourself from the dangers and risks of the Internet" sponsored by the law firm of Stark and Stark. April 29, 1998.
  11. Awarded a $500.00 Reach One, Teach One Grant by TCNJ's Vice President for Academic Affairs on May 5th. This grant enabled me to work cooperatively with Dr. Rajib Sanyal of our Managememt Area. We will develop Web documentation for his area of expertise and administration.
  12. Presented a training workshop entitled, "Microsoft Access I" to database administrators on Tuesday, May 12th and to database users on Thursday, May 14th who all work in the State of New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection. This workshop covered the basics of design, implementation, and modification of database tables, forms, queries, reports and OLE objects.
  13. Presented another training workshop entitled, "Microsoft Access II" to database administrators on Tuesday, May 19th and to database users on Thursday, May 21st who all work in the State of New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection. This workshop covered advanced topics of queries, reports, and macros.
  14. Gave a five-day workshop on "Database Management" to twelve database administrators from the State of New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection. This workshop included concepts of database management as well as an implementation of a database using Access97.
  15. Presented a paper entitled, "Computer Skills of Entering Business School Students: Trends and Curriculum Implications" at the 26th Annual Conference of the International Business Schools Computing Association in Denver, Colorado. July 9-11, 1998.
    Noteworthy is my paper was one of seven selected out of 65 to be included in the upcoming quarterly journal of the association!!
  16. Presented an eight-day (32-hours) training workshop in Visual Basic 5.0 to employees of the United States Department of Agriculture. The eight days were during the period August 3rd to August 18th, 1998. This workshop was sponsored by the Center for Training and Development at Mercer County Community College.
