Current Programs
- Summer Interactive Journalism Institute at TCNJ:
- The Summer Interactive Journalism Insitute is a week-long program for Fisher Middle School students and their teachers, during which they collaborate to create an online news magazine that incorporates digital media, interactive graphics, animation, video and database design.
- Summer 2008: In 2008, the middle school teachers met with the faculty and summer undergraduates of The College of New Jersey for a workshop July 7-11, before the middle school student participants joined for the institute July 14-18.
- Summer 2009: In 2009, the teachers' workshop was held July 8-10 and the students' workshop followed July 13-17.
The following are some of the resources students were provided during the institute:
- After School Program at Fisher Middle School:
- The after school program consists of 14 sessions after school throughout the year. The middle school students and teachers continue to collaborate to put out new issues of the online magazine . The teachers also provide mentorship during free periods during the school day.
- Online Collaboration All Year:
- Program participants can collaborate online all year through a content management system created specifically for the IJIMS program, CAFE (Collaboration and Facilitation Environment).
