• use "designx" account for site
• create folders for assets, dw_assignments, ps_assignments, ill_assignments
• include photo of Armstrong Hall on front page
• include your name, major, course title

Photoshop Photo-1
Take two original digitial photos of TCNJ campus, manipulate in Photoshop and post on your web page.

• optimize images in Photoshop
• feather edges in Photoshop
• place thumbnails on front page with link to lager, higher res image

• create Photoshop text w/drop shadow and bevel for banner
• create Photoshop navigation text images for navigation
• incorporate a collage of Armstrong hall images on front page

Graphic Assignment 5 (Due March10)

Poster 2
Design and create a 24"x36" full-color poster on the theme: NJ Sandcastle Contest, Belmar, NJ, Wednesday, July 12, 2006.

• research on-line for additional information and pics
• must include at least two photos modified in PS
• print poster at Library Media Center
• create in Adobe Illustrator
• include modified Adobe Photoshop images available on-line
• create thumbnail for your web page with link to large, higher res image on separate page.

Graphic Assignment 6 (Due April 4)

Design and create a 24"x36" full-color poster on the theme: Atlantic City Motorcycle Showcase in Atlantic City, NJ, April 1-2, 2006

Major Web Assignment

Problem Statement
The promise of the web to instruct and inform has been largely realized. However, the field of technological studies has not widely utilized the potential of the web to provide technical resources aimed at the middle-high school student.

Design Brief
Create a professional web site aimed at middle school students that centers on a technical area. The web site must contain at least four separate pages and provide useful information to visitors about the technical area. The web site must provide both the technical background information and show how to do something step-by-step. Your topic must be approved by the instructor before proceeding.

Specifications
Use design principles (alignment, proximity, contrast, repetition) and be able to cite where these principles have been incorporated in your site;

• You must use frames;
• Your web site must include only original photos and scans of original work (absolutely no downloaded images – all your own original work) that have been optimized in Photoshop;
• Incorporate the use of text image titles generated in Photoshop; the text in these images should have been modified to include drop shadow and/or beveling;
• Develop navigation that is consistent in appearance throughout and does not detract or overwhelm the pagel;
• Incorporate original rollovers for navigation; rollovers should maintain the contemporary impression of the rest of the site;
• Use good design practices in the typography of your site and avoid “novelty” fonts; strive for a clean, modern style to present a contemporary look;
• Keep all content text at “normal” (“none” in Dreamweaver, not +1 or larger) and keep titles at “+3” and smaller.

Task Assignment 1 (Due September 21)
