YESTERDAY
It seems like yesterday that we held hands
and laughed as we walked in the rain.
It seems like yesterday that we smiled
as we looked in each other’s eyes.
It seems like yesterday that we sat
and talked about our lives.
It seems like yesterday that we confessed
our love for each other.
It seems like yesterday that we held each other
and savored the moment.
It seems like yesterday that our lives
were as they should be.
It seems like yesterday
in my mind,
but it will always be today in my heart.
This is not a great poem, but it was written specifically for someone who is
still very special to me. She didn't seem to like it when she read it.
