Now in his 12th season as the
Lion's offensive line coach, Rich Alercio doubles as one of TCNJ's chief
recruiters as well as coordinating the offensive game plan and preparation.
Alercio had a fine athletic career
at Ursinus College where he served as team captain and earned the Big
Bear Award for team leadership as a starting center on the football
team. A graduate of Toms River North High School, Alercio returned to
his alma mater in 1988 serving as an assistant football coach. While
there he was in charge of the varsity squad's defensive line while also
heading up the sophomore football team.
Alercio graduated from Ursinus
in 1987 with a B.A. in economics, and from there he went on to work
as an economics teacher, defensive coordinator, and head lacrosse coach
at Admiral Farragut Academy. He later served as an assistant football
coach and director of intramurals at West Chester University from 1989
to 1991. Before arriving at TCNJ, he served as the assistant coach in
charge of the offensive line and the long snappers at East Stroudsburg
from 1991 to 1992.
Alercio and his wife, Kim reside
in Hamilton, NJ with their five-year old son, Jake, and two-year old
son, Shane. Alercio is a full-time athletic department staff member
whose other duties include assisting with athletic development. He is
a member of the American Football Coaches Association as well as the
National Association of Athletic Development Directors.
