MEETING MINUTES: 3/26/2008

Events

MKSD Field Day: Our Spring Field Day at MKSD is set for Wednesday, April 23, 2008. If you are interested in participating please email DHC (deafhc@tcnj.edu) NO LATER THAN Friday, April 11, 2008. This means you will still have a chance to sign-up in person at our next meeting on Wed. April 9, 2008. You MUST sign up to come to the Field Day, as we are required to provide MKSD with an official list of who is participating, and we also need to set up carpool arrangements. If you email us about attending, please let us know if you a) need a ride or b) can drive. If you can drive, then also let us know how many people can fit in your car.

On Field Day (4-23-2008) we will be meeting near the ATM’s in the Student Center at 12:15. We will then carpool over to MKSD and set up the stations/activities/games. We got some great activity ideas at the meeting today: parachutes, bowling, team sports (kickball, teeball, soccer), different forms of tag, obstacle courses, etc. If you have any additional ideas please email them to us. If you wish to participate in Field Day, please note that it will run from approx. 12:15 when we meet in the Student Center to 2:30 pm when we arrive back at TCNJ.

Relay for Life: DHC has created a Relay for Life team!!! In an effort to help fund and promote cancer research TCNJ holds the event April 11-12th. You can join our team and walk with us on those dates. Look for more information in the e-mail Lauren sent out a few days ago :) This is a great opportunity to come out and meet the DHC members, while at the same time donate your time to a great cause!

Elections: Next year’s Executive Board was decided at today’s meeting. They will help run the upcoming MKSD Field Day event, and they will “take over” at the next DHC meeting on 4-9-2008. Here are your results:

Vice President: Monica Doherty
Secretary: Nicole Lavender
Treasurer: Elaine Smolen

*Please note: at our next meeting we will be holding sign-ups for our different committees, and we will especially be looking for people to chair the committees. You can become an active DHC member by joining a committee: Publicity, Programs, Outreach, Fundraising, and/or Historian. If you have any questions about these committees please feel free to contact us. We will discuss these further at our next meeting.


Fundraising

Fwingers Keychains There are a few keychains left for purchase. Let us know if you are interested in buying more and we can order them! Remember, $1 from each keychain goes to the American School for the Deaf.

NJ DEAF ED hoodies have been ordered. They will arrive in approx. 2-3 weeks so stay tuned for an email from me (Nicole L) about more details. We will arrange a day/time for distributing the sweatshirts to those who ordered.


Questions, Comments…

Our Webmaster, Dan P., has offered to “teach/train” anyone interested in taking over his position… Liz Hodge so graciously accepted the offer and will be DHC’s Webmaster for next year!

*Our next meeting will be WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2008 AT 1PM IN FH 349!!!
