MEETING MINUTES: 10/10/2007
Events
MKSD Field Day: Next Wednesday October 17, 2007! You must sign-up beforehand if you wish to attend the field day. You can e-mail the club account saying you would like to sign-up. We are limited as per the number of cars we can bring onto the MKSD campus, so we will be setting up a carpool list. Please let us know if you need a ride, or if you are able to drive a carload of people to the field day (and if so, how many people can fit in your car). Sorry, but you cannot arrive on your own to field day. We will all meet in the Student Center at 12 noon and you can expect to arrive back at TCNJ at about 2:30pm. We have some ideas for games: obstacle course, parachute popcorn, kickball, duck-duck-goose, limbo, Simon Says, etc. If you have any additional ideas for games we can play with the students, please feel free to share them with us through e-mail. IMPORTANT: If you are interested in attending Field Day, you must e-mail DHC before 12 noon on Sunday, October 14th, 2007!
Sign Times: For those who are interested in practicing their signing skills, two different sign times have been set up. Both of these will take place every Tuesday.
1. ASL Refresher: this is open only to Deaf Education majors who have completed ASL 101, 102, and 103. Meet in the room with the comfy couches on the 3rd floor in Forcina at 3:30pm.
2. Music Sign Times: anyone is welcome to come. Starting at 4pm with Dan P. in the 3rd floor lounge of Eickhoff. Bring a song you like and as a group we can work on translating it into sign language!
CJ Jones: the date has been changed for the CJ Jones performance. It has been moved to Monday night, October 12, 2007 and it will begin at 8pm. More information about the location to come!
Alumni/Grad Pizza Party: this will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 14th, 2007. Come grab a bite and chat with former Deaf Ed. students and current graduate students in the program. More information about location to come!
Fundraising
T-Shirts: everyone who attended today’s meeting voted for their favorite t-shirt design. It will be a subtle gold tie-dye shirt with print on the front and back (check out the order form for a picture of the winning design). Each shirt will cost $15.00, and available sizes are Adult S, M, L, XL, XXL, and XXXL. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, please print the attached order form and make sure to read it over. Help support DHC by informing your family members and friends about our T-Shirt sale. The last day we will be collecting order forms is Friday, October 26th, 2007. Read the order form for directions regarding where and to whom you should hand in your orders. Cash only please! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Calendar Sales: We will be selling the Color of Language 2008 (14-month) calendars for $10 each. We hope to have them available to purchase at our next meeting. The theme for the 2008 calendar is “Community Helpers”, and it provides American Sign Language, English, and Spanish translations.
